The goal of Yermolov's mission was to determine and resolve border disputes between the two countries based on the Treaty of Golestan (1813). This paper, which is based on Iranian and Russian sources, reviews the context, goals and achievements of his mission. Of course, his mission not only failed to create an opening in relations between the two countries, but also intensified their disputes and finally led to the second war between Iran and Russia (1826-1828). Major reasons for his failure included different expectations with respect to his mission among the two countries’ authorities, Iran's disagreement with Yermolov’s proposals, Yermolov’s improper conduct in meetings with the Shah and other officials of Iran, failure of Iranian authorities to use this opportunity to determine common borders, dependence of two countries’ relations on situation of Abbas Mirza as the heir to Iranian throne and Yermolov’s disagreement to this issue, as well as Yermolov’s noncompliance with the official policy of Russia.}, keywords = {Iran,Russia,Fathali Shah,Abbas Mirza,General Yermolov,Qajar}, title_fa = {دیپلماسی در میانه دو جنگ: سفارت ژنرال یرملوف به ایران و دستاوردهای آن}, abstract_fa = {سفارت ژنرال یرملوف در ایران (1817) در پاسخ به مأموریت ابوالحسن ‌خان ایلچی و حل اختلاف‌های دو کشور پس از عهدنامه گلستان(1813) صورت گرفت. در این نوشتار ضمن توصیف و شرح رخدادهای این ماموریت به بررسی زمینه‌ها، هدف‌ها و دستاوردهای حاصل از آن پرداخته می‌شود.مجموعه عوامل زیادی مانند انتظارها و برداشت‌های متفاوت نمایندگان دو کشور از این سفارت، موافقت نکردن دربار ایران با پیشنهادهای یرملوف، برخورد نامناسب او با شاه و درباریان و نارضایتی ایرانی‌ها از رفتار او، بهره‌برداری نکردن مناسب اولیای امور ایران از فرصت پیش آمده برای تعیین خطوط مرزی، پیوند خوردن روابط دو کشور به ولایتعهدی عباس میرزا و رضایت نداشتن یرملوف به این ولایت‌عهدی و نیز ناهماهنگی یرملوف با سیاست رسمی دربار روسیه سبب شد این سفارت نهتنها گشایشی در روابط دو کشور ایجاد نکند، بلکه به گسترش اختلاف‌ها و در نهایت جنگ دوم با روسیه منجر شود.}, keywords_fa = {ایران,روسیه,فتحعلی‌شاه,عباس ¬میرزا,ژنرال یرملوف,قاجاریه}, url = {https://jcep.ut.ac.ir/article_35149.html}, eprint = {https://jcep.ut.ac.ir/article_35149_340251f80196dfedf06620d8483ff841.pdf} }
